Miles spent the weekend working on a Riptown SLAM project. SLAM Projects also known as Deep Dives (made famous by IDEO) are projects in which you are given extremely aggressive time lines to accomplish huge amounts of design work. They are usually 2 -3 days in length.

Using this as our inspiration we decided to have the User Experience Department compete against each other in teams of 4 or 5. The goal was to come up with a new concept and design doc for the Riptown Media site. The weekend was a great success with three really unique approaches, but in the end it was decided that our team had the idea most reflective of our culture. We celebrated by using our reward to take all the teams to Mortons for some steak sandwiches and whiskey sours.

Check out our prototype video which was created sometime between 3 – 4am.

Bushido

The goal of this project was to promote a short movie titled Bushido and have it accepted into a Film Festival; concentrating our efforts on a Film Festival that celebrates Japanese styles. We facilitated this by designing a press kit produced to current professional standards that was consistent in reflecting the director’s message.

Solution: Design a press kit (Poster, Authored DVD, Info pack and bios, Video Trailer) for submission to film festivals. The press kit was designed to elicit intrigue and gain the attention of the festival panel. The DVD will come in a seductive package and have extras like a director’s commentary, storyboards and full motion menus.

Success: Bushido was acepted into three international film festivals.
