It was a surprising Saturday for Miles Nurse when his name was called for the Excellence in Teaching Award at the VFS Annual Holiday Party. Miles was truly humbled by the gesture and feels that so many others where equally deserving. As much as the award is a great honor Miles feels this is a reflection of all efforts put forward by everyone who was committed to making the Digital Design program more successful at VFS. It was a great day for VFS and a great day for the Digital Design team.

Excellence in Teaching:

VFS will annually recognizes one instructor who demonstrates excellence in instruction and exemplifies passion, innovation, experience and ‘results’ in their teaching. This year, VFS will establish the Miles Nurse Scholarship in the amount of $2,500 for an incoming Digital Design student.

Contest Winnder – Blood Guts and Gore Horror Fest

Challenge: To create a 5 – 6 minute short horror movie within 48 hrs, that would be judged on four different categories. Use of Gore, Story, Prop, Originality.

Process:  We wanted to maximize the resources and strengths of the team by shooting two scenes with an animated piece for act 2. The story is of a man who has impregnated his girlfriend and is therefore forced to kill and dismember her. Greatest challenge was creating a concept that would utilize the strengths of the team while meeting the deadline of 48 hrs.

Critics Choice Award Winner | New Media Slam

Brief: New Media competition in which competitors are given 48hrs to create an online multimedia experience using a provided inspiration package. www.roman-holiday.org

Goal: To create an interactive online experience using a provided inspiration package. The package included a picture of friends in Rome on a Roman Holiday, a sound bite of them chanting and a text surprise ” Out of context experiences.”
